Cruz snatched-up this Los Angeles hideaway several years ago. When it came to decorating the interior she chose a Thai and Balinese aesthetic, rich with exotic influences and ornaments of subtle beauty. At a glance, you might mistake the open-plan design for an exhibition space and you’d be forgiven for the mistake, what with the innovate use of natural sunlight and elegant, patterned hardwood floors. It’s a perfect garden-orientated home for hosting barbecues and dining al fresco, overlooking the dazzling pool. That’s not to mention the extended view offered by the rear elevation. We’re talking about a panoramic LA vista, replete with the spines of those famous letter-studded, rolling green hills. At the other end of the house, there’s a lavish, oriental entrance leading into a pristine, tiled courtyard that doubles as an exterior foyer. Surprisingly all this comes with a relatively modest price tag, which is less than $3.5 million.
Looking at these pictures you can see the exotic and yet minimalist style Cruz chose for her living space. The courtyard windows allowed for added natural light and the solid outside door makes the whole place feel contained and safe. That’s not to say this isn’t a homely place to kick up your feet, though, since the lounging room is as good as any you’ll find in the hills, with stylish French doors and an adjacent meditation room to escape the everyday bustle. Everything in the house benefits from flashes of foreign detailing, from the oversized mirrors to the light sconces, as well as a cabana with a white outdoor bed, to remind you of your holidays. We could go on and on… the modern kitchen comes equipped with a customised, built-in fridge and generous cooktop, and, as you move from room to room, you’re given a soothing sense of the feng shui that the architect clearly kept in mind. We love the shrunken, ceiling-height windows and star-sized, teak-framed mirrors. We also liked how those important, grounding touches, like an eating nook and a fireplace to cosy up to at night, had all been taken into consideration as well.
Here Cruz can be seen looking especially radiant in an Armani Privé Off-the-shoulder Lavender Gown, which she wore for the 84th Academy Awards, in 2012. Lovely though it is, the dress isn’t the reason we wanted to include this picture. We’re more interested in her 56ct (total) Platinum and Pear Diamond Necklace, as well as her 15ct Platinum and Diamond Cluster Earrings and 43ct Platinum and Diamond Line Bracelet, all of which were specially made by Chopard.
