Most of the high-end companies have released special collections inspired by the ocean. Tiffany & Co. is perhaps the most famous, having recently released a stunning oceanic Blue Book, fresh from Fifth Avenue, entitled ‘The Art of Transformation’. This year, their annual collection is replete with unique creations, many of which could’ve easily been plucked from the seabed, like Pearls waiting in the cushioned mouths of molluscs. You can thank the creative Design Director Francesca Amfitheatrof for diving into the big blue and bringing us this captivating dreamscape, vivified by cool underwater motifs and realistic detailing.
“In this collection, we are taking you on a journey through nature,” Francesca said, “From the deep ocean, we float to the edge of the water where stillness reigns.”
Here’s our favourite piece from Tiffany’s ocean-inspired Blue Book of 2016. It’s a remarkable Baroque Octopus brought to life in a Pearl Brooch adorned with icy Diamonds and Sapphires.
Another piece from Tiffany’s 2016 Blue Book – which was simply wonderful by the way; you can check it out here – was this sophisticated (and very bold) Statement Necklace coloured with a mixture of Marquise Tanzanites, Green Tourmalines, Aquamarines and Diamonds.
Finally, we wanted to give you a sneaky peak into the ‘Ocean of Dreams’, another collection that channels the beauty found beneath the sea. Expect to see a variety of skilfully wrought Art Nouveau motifs, with all kinds of molluscs and shelled critters, from urchins to crabs. There are also several more abstract designs with summery jewels reminiscent of crystal waters and undersea wonders to soothe the balmy weather.
What do you think of the ‘Atlantic Blue’ Ring from the ‘Ocean of Dreams’ collection? It features rippling waves of pavé Diamonds, neatly framing an eye-catching Paraiba Tourmaline.
